Record Store Day started in the USA in 2007, when independent record stores collaborated to create the unique event. It is now a global event, with over 240 stores taking part in the UK alone.
Returning on April 19, record stores will be selling limited edition releases, special merchandise from various bands and artists, as well as hosting gigs, signings, and competitions for music lovers everywhere.
These special edition vinyl and CD releases are made especially for Record Store Day, and will not be available anywhere else. So it’s a great opportunity to get your hands one some extremely rare items. Not all stores will have the same stock available, and once they’re gone…
Thanks to Music’s Not Dead, an independent record store in Bexhill, you don’t have to miss out. The shop recently posted about the event on their Facebook page, later revealing their excitement about an announcement from the Pixies, who this year are participating in the event by releasing a limited, special edition version of their new album ‘Indie Cindy’. This will be the Pixies first studio album since the early 1990’s.
