In recent years bands from the 80’s and 90’s have dominated festival headline slots and the charts with their massive comebacks. Of course not all were great success and not all were welcomed by the ‘new’ music industry but it would seem that literally everyone is having another go.
With recent announcements from Kate Bush, Dolly Parton, and Prince to name a few this summer is going to be rife with artists some of us have waited our whole lives to see live, and others have been happy to forget.
But who would have expected the news that Dame Vera Lynn would be releasing a new album, which celebrates not only her 97th birthday but also her 90 years in show business. Incredibly ‘The Forces Sweetheart’ was the first ever person to have their single topping the UK charts, and now 90 years later the album, delightfully named Vera Lynn: National Treasure -The Ultimate Collection, will be released on 2 June. Commemorating the 70 Anniversary of the second-world-war the album will be a mixture of never before heard tracks as well as some of her most famous and memorable classics. We think it’s pretty cute!
