It’s not just Apple who are making money out of Streaming services. Website Songkick, which promotes gigs to users based on their song choices, has reported to now have 10million users per month. The website partnered with Soundcloud, Deezer, Bandcamp and Spotify in 2007 and launched its app in 2011. The creators expect to have over 15 million users by the end of the year. This personalised music service sends tour dates and suggestions direct to the user meaning that the need to subscribe to different websites and newsletters to find out when or where your favourite bands are playing is no more. Songkick tracks gigs uploaded to the www, by artists ranging from local bands playing their local pub, to the biggest bands and artists in the world. It also acts as forum for music fans, who can post photos, videos and share their gig experience with other users allowing them to contribute to the massive database of videos, conversations and photos already available.
