The Piercings:

Youngling

Written By Johnny Anders

‘Youngling’ is the debut EP from one of the newest young bands to the Hastings music scene. The Piercings have been gigging regularly over the past few months, building up a growing local fanbase along the way.

This four track EP, recorded in Brighton, shows the bands influences in their full glory and comparisons with The Smiths and The Housemartins are inevitable on first listen. If that sounds like your kind of music, then this just might be for you.

The EP kicks off with ‘Just Turn Around’, a track heard frequently on the recent Hastings Rock broadcast, which indicates its quality.

The other stand out track here is ‘Till Death Do Us Part’, which features a chorus containing the words, “waiting for you, staring at a walrus”. That’s not something you hear every day.

The Piercings describe themselves as “packing a punch with catchy melodies, enforced warm, smooth and full chorded guitar”. I think that’s a fair summary of a band who are starting to impress many people.
