After three very succesful gigs on Hastings Pier in September 2016, promoters One Inch Badge are making a very welcome return trip.
Those 2016 gigs featured headliners Dizzee Rascal, Happy Mondays and the Levellers, and were the first big independently promoted gigs on the newly reopened Hastings Pier.
One Inch Badge are returning with some equally impressive names for this years August Bank Holiday weekend.
Saturday, 26th August 2017 sees BritPop legends Ocean Colour Scene headline the Day Tripper event.
Day Tripper is a unique one-day open-air event on Hastings Pier curated by Ocean Colour Scene themselves and will see the band perform their seminal 1996 breakthrough album 'Moseley Shoals' in full, plus a selection of their greatest hits.
'Moseley Shoals' sold over 1.9 million copies, reached number 2 in the UK album charts and stayed in the charts for 92 weeks. It is often thought of as one of the best albums to come out of the BritPop era, and with good reason.
Ocean Colour Scene also famously supported Oasis at the now legendary Knebworth gigs back in 1996.
It will be good to see and hear those familiar songs, such as 'the Riverboat Song' and 'The Day We Caught The Train', being performed in Hastings.
Joining them on this special bill will be the hugely successful and longstanding Beatles tribute band The Bootleg Beatles, probably one of the first ever tribute acts to appear on the scene, and certainly one of the most respected.
Completing the bill will be former Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook’s band Peter Hook and The Light, who will be performing the greatest hits of his illustrious career.
Well done to One Inch Badge for bringing some more big names to Hastings Pier. We look forward to seeing who they'll be enticing to this part of the South Coast next.
Day Tripper is an evening event, with gates opening at 6pm and music finishing by 10pm.
