Robert Cray

De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill - 15th October, 2018

Written By Andy Gunton

The Blues comes to Bexhill.

Legendary guitarist and singer-songwriter Robert Cray returns to the UK in Autumn 2018 following the success of his most recent album – the Blues Music Awards nominated ‘Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm’.

We are very lucky that he's chosen the De La Warr Pavilion, in Bexhill, as one of the stops on this UK tour, a rare treat indeed.

The gig takes place on Monday, 15th October and is likely to be a very popular one, so it's worth getting your tickets early.

Support on the night comes from The Mike Eldred Trio.

Considered one of the greatest guitarists of his generation, Cray’s soulful and creative guitar work has been a dominant force in Blues for over forty years, widely recognized and acknowledged by peers and audiences alike.

Robert Cray came to the notice of the music world, back in 1986, with his fourth album 'Strong Persuader', and its hit single 'Smokin' Gun'.

I remember buying the album myself, and being mightily impressed, so I'm very much looking forward to this gig.

A five time Grammy winner, Robert Cray has written or performed with everyone from Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan, to John Lee Hooker, becoming one of the most popular artists in Blues and Soul music in his own right, and helping steer and shape its course along the way.

He's never stopped recording or touring during his four decade career, and has released well over 20 albums during that time.

This is a rare opportunity for local music lovers to witness this genre defining artist again test his talent, fuse it together with that dazzling voice, and perform some of the most powerful material from that very impressive back catalogue.

A gig not to be missed, especially if you love the music of the Blues, which I know many in this area do.

See you there.
